This takes very little preparation, but be warned, it is very messy!
What you need:
- plates or flat bottomed bowls
- paint in various colours (you will use a lot of paint!)
- A3 paper
- aprons
- sponge shapes – there are many to choose from- ones with handles are especially easy for very little hands to grip.(and at the time of writing these ones are in a sale!)
When we did this, many children started to carefully use the sponge stamps (we had animal shaped ones), but then just got stuck in covering their hands in paint and smearing it all over the paper! We also had some sponge rollers with patterns, which gave a lovely effect. Others scratched into the surface of the paint with their nails. Many had more paint than paper- but that’s part of the fun!
